Elina Waage Mikalsen is an artist and musician from Tromsø, working with sound, text, performance and installation. Her background is both Sami and Norwegian, which is a recurring theme in her artistic practice. This has become a starting point for fantasizing and discussing. As an artist, she´s concerned with making visible and including the interweaving of people she comes from, and often includes family and friends in her work. In the summer of 2020, she released the soundtrack and cassette Rođu Govkkit / Glenner i Vier where she explores the relationship between what is above the earth's surface and what is below, holes as portals into other worlds and deep time. The work consists of voice and field recordings that take the listener on a journey down into the underground world, up through the forest and into the body.
