Run by artists, SOVA is a small art school in the almost-arctic of Canada’s Yukon, located in Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Territory. They´ve put together a special collection of books and zines from their library for the AABF. It includes work by current and past faculty, visiting artists and alumni as well as some exhibition-related print material from their friends at the Odd Gallery/Klondike Institute of Art & Culture.
SOVA is collaboratively governed by Yukon University, Dawson City’s Arts Society (DCAS – the operating arm of the Klondike Institute of Art & Culture) and the local First Nation (Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in). Students attend first year studio, English and visual culture classes to provide a foundation for creative exploration. We offer an academic credit from Yukon University, block transfer to specific institutions, an active arts-oriented community, an interactive relationship with the First Nation and an exceptional contemporary facility.
